Simrad Autopilot

Post by Torgeir » Tue Jun 18, 2019 6:57 pm

I have a 1999 Fairline Targa 37 which had a Simrad Autopilot fitted when I bought it, but which now has stopped working. As I have recently installed a Raymarine es128 plotter, i would like to install a Raymarine autopilot too, but want to try to reuse the drive unit for the steering. Initially I thought my boat had a RPU80 or 160 drive unit, but after some more investigation, it turns out my boat is fitted with some type of electric cable steer helm unit. Does anyone know what type was fitted to Fairline Targa back in 1999? There is absolutely no labels or markings on the drive unit (at least not that I can see from where it’s sitting in the boat. I need to know what type is fitted to my boat so I can find out what type of Raymarine autopilot i need (think its dictated by the amps needed to drive the electric helm unit).

Can anyone help? Guessing won’t help me much....
