Re: Control Lever
It can be the case that, on certain rivers, you can experience an accumulation of limescale around the exposed underwater cable end which will have an effect on smooth operation - but usually this will clear after several movements. If you satisfy yourself that the control lever is fine, and well lu...

Re: Fairline Mirage 29
Congratulations on your purchase. !980 that means a Mark 1 Mirage. As far as I am aware an original owners manual is about as rare as hens teeth. Your engine and transmission set up (with Volvo Penta outdrive) was branded Volvo Penta AQ120 (AQ=Aquamatic). I believe the same engine was used for the A...

Re: Full Tanks For Winter?
Usual wisdom is
Petrol - empty ('old' petrol can degrade and block carburettors )
Diesel - full (to expel air and to minimise condensation which can help to minimise occurrence of
diesel bug)

Re: servicing outdrives
On the River Thames, for example, I would allow £2,000 to include lift out and re-launch, service both drives with genuine Volvo parts assuming that to be new bellows and oil. If there are seals to be replaced then that would be extra. I mention Thames as its prob one of the most expensive areas for...

Re: Fuel filter for Fairline Holiday
you will get a metal bowl from ASAP Supplies, but don't forget that you will also need a metal bung. A plastic screw bung will get you a BSS fail. There is a Racor fuel filter with sea thru bowl which does comply with BSS, it has a large pudding bowl shield and gives that visibility which is, as you...

Re: Search err Mirage Manual
I think locating the original vents will be a hell of a challenge, and I would be much interested if you find a source. I gave up trying to find an original manual. I started writing down as I learnt things and ended up creating my own manual over 13 years of ownership. It seems to be the curse of a...

Re: Drinks holder
Not familiar with the Targo drinks holder, but I have flat acrylic holder with holes for 2 cups which got smashed. I bought some black sheet acrylic online (about A4 size), cut two holes with a hole cutter, cut to size/shape with hack saw and smoothed edges with fine glasspaper ... removed broken pi...

Re: Fairline Mirage Owners Manual
Built in 1981, I own the Mirage featured on the brochure for the Mark 2 model.
Never been able to find a manual.
Original petrol engines replaced with diesel, I ended up writing my own manual as best I could.
You will find online a very detailed workship manual for the VP 280 outdrives.

I would start with a call to Fairline at Oundle. Collect all numbers from any plates you can find eg dash and transom, then give them a call.

Re: Engine part required
If its a Volvo Petrol engine can you establish its automotive connection ... ie what car was it used on ?
This may help in the search for a replacement.

Re: Weekender 21
You don't say where the problem is ... but it sounds a bit like outdrive bellows ?
It is very UNLIKELY that you cannot get spares for this.
It is most likely an Enfield or a Volvo Penta and you can get parts for both of these.
post some photos on here and we will soon tell you which.
