Re: Fairline Turbo 36 restoration

This is interesting reading , as I noticed that my port engine runs slightly hotter than the starboard one. Not by much but you can see the gauges are different . At displacement speed I have had one engine running warmer than the other by about 8 degrees for a while. After taking the boat for a te...

Re: Fairline Turbo 36 restoration

Hello Murv, I feel your pain its not good is it. Hopefully it is your port engine as the starboard one is a pain in the stern. Did you have an overheating issue as well, if so did you identify the cause? I am taking my old housing to a friends garage to see if he can use what I understand to be a he...

Re: Fairline Turbo 36 restoration

Fingers crossed the bits of impeller in your bilge was what was removed from the heat exchanger. I would be very careful if you are going to take them apart so you dont do what I did because the housing is not cheap to replace, not that anything is cheap to replace on a boat! I suppose the good news...

Re: Fairline Turbo 36 restoration

This thread makes for fantastic reading and glad it is coming together, how far off the finishing line are you now? I finally got the bottom of my over heating issue (I hope). I removed the cap that covered the top of the heat exchanger element and found lots of broken impeller bits. heat exchanger ...

Re: Fairline Turbo 36 restoration

I am failry sure that I have the same davits on mine, I would love to know what their rating is as I am enquiring about a new tender which is a bit bigger and quite a bit heavier than my current one.

Re: Fairline Turbo 36 restoration

After seeing that photo of the cable I think I will be checking as well when I get home. Matress is very expensive as we have gone for a 20cm pocker sprung with memory foam, fingers crossed it is worth the money. Out of interest have you recieved the quote for your screen yet? I thought I had a solu...

Re: Fairline Turbo 36 restoration

Sorry for my delayed reply, a bit of a busy weekend. I am looking at a custom holding tank that does not sit too high as I do not want to restrict the access to the engine too much and it has to avoid the drain for the fuel filter as well which is a bit of a pain. Power wise I am looking at victron ...

Re: Fairline Turbo 36 restoration

I have just had a quick thought of someone who may potentially be able to help you with some of your questions. I first came across superheat6k on the Sealine forum (when I owned one) he did post on here when he had a Turbo36 so you could look him up and message him or go to his Ocean Belle site htt...

Re: Fairline Turbo 36 restoration

Have to agree with Murv a fantastic thread, although obviously I am biased as well! Sadly I cant help with the oil or water leaks, thankfully I have not encountered any leaks greater than an aft deck hatch when it rained heavily and a leaking shower tray in the forward heads. A quick one with regard...

Re: Fairline 36 Turbo - Fishtail Exhausts

I have cut the silencers off and after a delayed relaunch I can report that they are louder but not too bad especially once on the move. The only time I feel I would like them to be a tad quieter is when I am manouvering on tickover. The port engine is much quieter than the starboard which I thought...

Re: TAMD41 ENGINE WIRING DIAGRAM

Have you tried downloading the engine manual from the volvo penta websiter? The manuals usually have the wiring diagrams in them.

Re: Fairline 36 Turbo - Fishtail Exhausts

My starboard one was hanging off so repaired in a similar fashion and to give it a bit more stability a brace was fitted to the bathing platform but after a two week trip around the Bristol Channel its now hanging off again. I have tried a few companies for a replacement with no joy. I am having her...

Re: Fairline 36 Turbo - Fishtail Exhausts

Sorry to drag up an old thread, I have been looking for a replacement myself. I read on marinepartseurope.com that volvo simply called it a silencer and that it is now obsolete. Did anyone find a suitable replacement and for those who cut them off what are the noise levels like with no additional si...
