Re: Cleaning heat exchangers TAMD40B

Hi Barry, assuming 40b is similar to 41b, raw water goes round sytem and exits from outlet on heat exchanger. I just disconnected the rubber pipe here and took a 1" hose back into the 5 gallon container. To reverse the flow you can then just change the pipe over on the pond pump. Needs to run round ...

Re: Cleaning heat exchangers TAMD40B

Hi Barry I've used Rydlyme on both of my Tamd41b engines. Set up a pond pump in a 5 gallon container and connected to output pipe from raw water pump, then disconnected pipe where it injects into the exhaust and run that back into container. Left pump running for 2 hours on each engine, they recomme...

Re: MS4B Gearbox water in oil

Hi,

Gearboxes are raw water cooled , presumably your antifreeze is in the freshwater circuit, not tried to run one without cooling but I guess it would overheat. you could try Coastal Rides for a replacement cooler element or there are a few gearboxes that crop up on Ebay

Re: Wireing from lazerete to steering consol

Hi Barry You can get the cable along the port side from the lazarette over the bulkhead and along the top of the fuel tank, same run as the hydraulic steering pipes. To get if up above the steering you need to take the panel off below the throttles which give access the the channel that runs up betw...

Re: Tamd41 overheating. Heat exchanger

Hi, As you are probably aware on the Tamd41s the raw water cooling goes from the pump, through the oil cooler, through the aftercooler, through the gearbox and finally into the heat exchanger before being injected into the exhaust. As the heat exchanger is badly fouled chances are the oil cooler wil...

Re: What is this floor hatch trim called?

I had the same problem when I wanted to add an additional hatch. I purchased a straight section of aluminium "T" shaped trim and carefully bent it into the radius using a suitably shaped piece of 18mm ply and a hammer, if you do it gradually it will form without splitting, can't remember which websi...

Re: Corniche fuel consumption, speed and propellers

Hi, yes I still have the same boat, you don't mention whether you have 3 or four blade props , mine are 22 x 26 3 blade, I get 37-3800 rpm max, speed still much as I put in the poriginal post

Optimus cooker spares

Hi all

I've just upgraded my Optimus 2 burner hob and oven/grill on my Corniche. Before I consign them to the dump I thought I'd just offer them as spares, all in working order but tired as you can imagine after 27 years!

Happy to send any parts at the cost of the postage

Re: Corniche blues

Hi Colin They do a kit for the intercooler that includes the o rings and gaskets you need. I did ask in my last post when you last had her out of the water as hull/prop drag still seems the most likely. The intercooler is not likely to just block, it would tend to be a slow decline over time as the ...

Re: Corniche blues

Hi Colin, There is a plug at the front of the inlet manifold for the boost take off, item 2 and 3, I got a sensor to screw straight into it, this is a link to the diagram, https://www.marinepartseurope.com/en/volvo-penta-explodedview-7745920-26-20524.aspx Had problems with fuel starvation year befor...

Re: Corniche blues

Hi Colin, Fingers crossed it's just the air filters then. Once you unscrew the filter cover and take the filter off you can reach the turbo vanes with your fingers, they should spin freely. I believe the main fuel filters are 10 micron so putting 10s in the racors shouldn't cause a problem but I nor...

Re: Corniche blues

Hi, Also have a Corniche which has suffered power problems on a couple of occasions. Firstly it's unlikely to be fuel starvation as you're getting black smoke, unburnt fuel. You don't mention how long between your last clean off and your run out but even just fouling of the shafts and props will cau...
