As I thought, since the original post, a 6 Watt LED became available in a different design, which fits some of the larger light fittings in the saloon in my Targa 34. These are available on eBay for around £1 each. The only thing necessary is to snip a few mm off the wires on the bulb to match that ...

... is there a switch to join the batteries together incase of one being flat and using the other bank to start an engine? The year of my boat is 1993. When my battery crossover switch failed, it turned out that the replacement was available at a Motor Parts shop, and was just a simple car starter ...

Searchlight Bulb - sucess

Spoke with GE, who put me onto a UK wholsaler, who put me onto a UK distributor, who sold me the units at about ?17 each, and got them in next day.
I can pass on details if anyone else wants to know.

Having been on the boat yesterday, I can confirm the model as a RS8400.
